Aww it can take a while for them to really get it. Especially when changing from a potty to a toilet. Mine always have some oops during that time as well.

Thanks, and I agree with you, at my last attempt I felt too that he's not ready and just left it at that. I hope he is ready now. We shall see :)

My sons will be 21 mos next week.

I started organically introducing the potty (not the toilet) at 19 mos.

They used it as a toy and now understand to sit on it.

Sometimes I know when they need to go, like after a bath, and they roll w/it.

Other times, well... let's just say the Pampers Overnights are stocked.

They can tell me when they feel like they need to go but can't make it in time.

For me, that tells me to back off. So, I gave up for now. I never force these kids, ever.

Good luck sweetie!

ICLW and blessings for the new year!

The main point being, I think, that day care centers - while probably doing a pretty respectable job of looking after our children while we're at work - are not parents. To them, a potty is a chore that comes with all of what you mentioned. To us, it's a milestone (and a pretty cute one, at that). It's all about efficiency at daycare; all about (in baby voice), "Oh, look at what the baby did. Did he go potty? Yes, he did go potty. He's a good little potty baby!" The poor kid is probably looking at the toilet like, "Uh, what's this thing and is it going to swallow me?" Oh, the daycare damage we must undo!

Potty training is a tricky thing. Bubba would only go for me or my mom for a year. It was really hard when he needed to be with someone else.
